Around Acequias...


There are plenty of things to do around Acequias...

Visit the pretty villages just a few minutes’ drive away with exotic names such as Melegis and Restabal. The villages in the Valley make a pleasant excursion and most have bars and restaurants.
Granada, an ancient Moorish city famous for its history, architecture and the extraordinary
Alhambra Palace and Gardens, is just 30 minutes away
A half-hour’s drive to the east lies the
Alpujarras – a unique mountainous area of ancient hill villages with cube-like whitewashed houses which resemble the Berber settlements found in North Africa
Drive south for 30 minutes to the
Costa Del Tropical, which has been unspoilt by package tourism. Salobrena, the nearest beach to Acequias. is a popular holiday resort for Spaniards
enjoy the superb
skiing facilities at Sol y Nieve, the international ski resort high in the Sierras that is 90 minutes drive from Acequias. Sol y Nieve was the location for the 1999 Winter Olympics.
Visit Andalucian cities such as
Seville, the capital of Andalucia, and Cordoba famous for its mosque dating from the 8th Century Riding
There is a riding stables in Niguelas where you can hire
horses by the hour, this is an excellent way of exploring

Golf There are two golf courses in the area, an 18 holecourse in Armilla about 15 miles away and a 9 hole course on the beach near Salobrena Shopping
There’s only one way to shop in Acequias – by hailing one of the local vans which pass through the village daily laden with prawns, peaches, tomatoes, bread and even live chickens.
The neighbouring village of Nigüelas offers a supermarket, shops, a market on Mondays and a fish market Tuesday to Fridays.
The local town of Durcal (10 minutes’ drive) has shops and banks while Granada (30 minutes) is one of Spain’s most fashionable cities.
WalkingThe area is ideal for anyone wishing to hike or simply walk
The GR7 long distance footpath runs up the hill behind the village and then onto Lanjaron. There are countless paths and tracks that run through woods, forests and beside streams

range of activities for you including Rock climbing canoeing, skiing, fishing, paragliding and four wheel
