Flights... The nearest international airport for the Granada area with connections to all regions of the UK and much of Europe is Malaga. Situated approximately 1,5 hours away on an excellent road net work from the Lecrin Valley. All the major airlines fly to Malaga including the low cost airlines where airfares can be as low as £65 return. With the low cost airlines you need to flexible with your dates of travel and to book well in advance the very low fares sell out quickly

DETAILS OF HOW TO REACH ACEQUIAS

The Journey from Malaga should take just under 2 hours .There are two ways of reaching the area of the Lecrin Valley from Malaga
The Coastal route:
From the airport take the left lane out of the airport area and follow the signs to Malaga.After about 2 kms take the exit marked Motril and Antequera. Follows the N340 Motril and Almeria which is a dual carriagemway as far as Nerja. From then on it is a scenic but winding and hilly road with mostly only one lane in each direction.There may be traffic congestion at busy times. After Salobrena take the N323 north in the Granada Direction. After about 28 Kms,take the exit marked Durcal/Niguelas and pick up the rest of the directions
The Inland Route
This is also scenic and is dual carriageway all the way apart from the last ten minutes.
Take the left lane out of the airport area and follow the sighs to Malaga.After about 2kms take the exit marked Motril and Antequera (N340 N341) After about 9kms on this road take the N331 turn off at junction 241 for Granada / seville / Cordoba and continue to follow signs to Granada .After 28kms branch off onto the A92 to Granada. Stay on this road for about 55Kms until you pass Granada airport on your right.At junction 230 take turn off Granada /Santa Fe on to the A329. After about 7kms you should see a sign for the N323/E901 (circunvalacian and Sierra Nevada) to the right.Take thisoad and keep following the signs for N323,Motril. The city of Granada and the Sierra Nevada are on your left If you wish to stop and shop a t Carrefour hypemarket,look for the exit marked Palacio de Congresos, (Junction 131 0n N323). After about 20 minutes you take the exit marked Durcal/Niguelas;(do not take the exit marked Durcal / Cozvijar / Conchar)
For both routes:
Follow the sign for Niguelas at the roundabout and at the T junction,where you turn right (At this point there is not a signpost to the village) Continue along this road (the old N323) and ignore the route to the left into the village of Niguelas, Follow the road around a few bends and over the Rio Torrente, take the steep lane to your left to Acequias which is marked by a small white and red stone at ground level. After 3 minuted you will arrive at the village church to your right opposite the church you will see the grounds of Tia Maria which is enclosed behind a walled garden and black gates. Parking may be difficult at peak periods, 3 cars only in front of Casa Tia Maria Any spaces by the side of the church can be used (not the front as locals use that) The car park at the start of the village where the bus turns round.can be used
